Creative + imaginative arts education, youth-led learning, and support for working artists

our mission

serving the high desert since 2017

The Institute of Inquiry is a nonprofit dedicated to providing responsive, creative and high-quality educational opportunities to youth, families and creative professionals in the Morongo Basin. Our program was founded on the principles that education is a lifelong pursuit, and meaningful learning thrives in environments rooted in curiosity and respect. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure the youth we work with are accustomed to being valued, listened to and supported.

It is equally essential to support arts workers who bring their skills, dedication and experience to our programs through equitable compensation, rewarding employment and relevant, impactful professional development.

Creative Fields

Creative Fields is a free arts apprenticeship program that brings youth aged 14-19 together with local creative professionals for thirty weeks of paid mentorship and arts career experience. Teaching Artists open up their studio spaces to share their artmaking practices, career knowledge and support as youth participants gain hands-on experience in a wide range of creative disciplines.

Artists-in-Residence Program

Through our partnership with Arts Connection's Estudio Aire program, we will begin hosting artists-in-residence from the broader Inland Empire region in 2026, connecting youth to a wider network of working creative professionals.
