For Youth
What is Creative Fields?
Creative Fields is a 30-week long paid mentorship and arts apprenticeship program that gives over 100 hours of experience in a variety of creative careers. Take a look at what we have planned for this year, and see if you, or youth you in your community, might be a good fit for the 2026-27 school year.

Creative Fields is offered free of charge, through the generosity of the Dale and Edna Walsh Foundation, and the California Arts Council, a state agency. To learn more, visit arts.ca.gov.
We understand that getting around can be a challenge in the high desert, especially if parents or caregivers are working and youth are without alternate transportation. Creative Fields provides free door-to-door transportation for all participants who need it, and free pickups at three central locations along highway 62 for participants who don’t need transportation, but want to join the carpool (it saves gas, emissions, and it’s a lot of fun to drive out as a group)

Creative Fields primarily serves youth aged 14-19 with neurodivergences, diverse mental health needs and/or conduct disorders such as PTSD, ADHD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, among others. We understand that while these needs may inhibit youth’s participation in traditional classroom environments, they are also approaches to learning that make them uniquely suited to creative thinking.
Our learning spaces are designed to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs, staffed by Teaching Artists who approach students as capable, creative individuals rather than problems to be managed.
